On Memorial Day, the plan was to lay low in the morning and then head to Coweta after nap to see family and then get to bed before heading back to school on Tuesday. The morning was pretty tame and we enjoyed some down time. Elizabeth was the first to sit down for lunch. She was eating and then all of a sudden there was a thud and lots of tears. Elizabeth had managed to fall out of her chair. Mom scooped her up to hug her and Elizabeth showed that her elbow was what hurt the most. It was already bruised and swelling..... sigh. After the incident of not taking Ben to the doctor right away with his wrist, Mom felt like it was best to take E to the doctor. We finished lunch and iced her arm and then headed to urgent care. We waited a bit and then it was Elizabeth's turn. Mom prepared her that Elizabeth might have to tell the doctors in her own words what happened because of the nature of the injury. The doctor didn't seem to care that much and E and Mom muddled through the story. Elizabeth got two x-rays and held really still. She was a champ. The doctor had said with the way it looked that it was possibly a radial fracture, but she hoped not. It was not a fracture, but Mom was relieved to know and the trip was worth it.
While Mom and E were at the doctor, Ben was going to have his annual summer buzz cut from Dad. Apparently the plan changed and this is what we came home to....
The deal is that Ben has to get up early enough to fix it or it will get shaved off. We thought he would not like it for swim lessons, but so far it has lasted. We'll see how much longer we can go. In the meantime, Ben thinks he is pretty cool and Elizabeth points out any other male with a faux hawk or spiky hair and announces loudly - "He has hair just like Ben!" Mom is ready for the novelty to wear off or to be shaved off. :)
