Elizabeth signed Mom up to be a "dance mom" this year. Mom was happy to help, but a little anxious about how it would go with Elizabeth. We talked several times about how Mom would need to help other girls as well and not just Elizabeth. The first rehearsal went well as there were no costume changes and we got to enjoy snacks between dances. Dress rehearsal went okay. We had to change costumes and Mom did have to help other little girls. Elizabeth was a "helper" with Mom and did well as long as she was playing sidekick. There were only three girls in her class, but a couple of larger classes didn't have helping moms and needed costume help.
Recital was later that night and it had been a long day. Mom may have poked Elizabeth's head with a bobby pin that started a moment of meltdown. Mom told Elizabeth that she needed to take a deep breath or her makeup would run. It is official. We could be on the show Dance Moms - if that is even the name of a real show. We all survived and Mom would do it again in a heartbeat. Elizabeth was beautiful and did an amazing job on stage.
Her sweet assistant teacher bought bears for her class of three girls. That was such a special surprise and really helped backstage when they needed encouragement. Elizabeth also made sure to let Mom know to let Dad know that he brings the best recital surprises and she would like for him to do that again this year. Apparently the Angelina Ballerina she got last year was just from Dad in her eyes. It was so sweet. So he delivered again with another ballerina doll and flowers. She was beaming, but also exhausted after the long day.
