Part of Scouting that initially attracted Ben was the promise of the Pinewood Derby. It was the Superbowl of Scouting in his mind - the event of the year! He was so excited to build his car. Dad and Ben worked to cut it into the shape they chose and came up with a color scheme and plan for the paint job. Ben's painting was a little wild, but Dad helped smooth it out. Ben's car did really well and usually took 2nd in his heats. He didn't end up a winner overall, but seemed to enjoy the experience and the fact that he got to keep the car he made.
