Fat Tuesday is important to Ben since he learned about it last year. It may have to do with the fact that our celebration centers around eating food he loves. He definitely wanted to celebrate with the whole family so we actually celebrated early on the Saturday before so everyone could participate. Mom and Ben decided to step it up this year and ordered mini king cakes from Merritt's. It was a good decision and the kids really enjoyed that special treat after our green/gold/purple dinner. We enjoyed purple pancakes, green jello and golden eggs and hashbrowns for our main dish. Pancakes are a tradition some places on Fat Tuesday and our kids love breakfast for dinner so we just went with it. It was fun to further our family tradition and is something we will enjoy in years to come.
