Summer Solstice Sleepover

Mom and Dad took a quick trip to Eureka Springs for their anniversary which happens to fall on the Summer Solstice.  So the kids got to enjoy a "Summer Solstice Sleepover" with Grandma and Grandpa.  They watched movies, stayed up late, had water play, the list goes on and on.  The favorite funny from the sleepover was that the kids were told to wait until their alarm clock said 8:00 to get up.  So Mr. Literal changed the time on the clock to read 8:00 when he woke up around 6:00.  He marched right in to Grandma and said – it is 8:00 on my clock!  Elizabeth thought this was hysterical as well since she was benefiting from brother’s quick thinking.  Hopefully they get invited back……:)

Lion King

Our family was fortunate enough to get tickets for all of us to see The Lion King musical at the PAC this summer.  We even got aisle tickets where the actors/animals run right by your seat as they parade onto stage.  The kids were a little bit nervous about being right on the aisle so Mom got that seat.  (Darn!)  They LOVED it though.  Elizabeth was determined that none of them were animals.  She liked the little girl (Nala) the best.  Ben took a liking to the bongo drums that were played on stage and decided he would take up the drums.  They talked about it for weeks and still mention it when we drive in that area.  What an amazing show!  So glad we decided to include the kids in the experience!

Guest Blogger: Ben McCullough, kid chef

One day I was looking for a recipe and decided to just make my own.  I will make this recipe again.  I really liked the cinnamon that was mixed up with it.

Ingredients:
Tortilla
Shredded Colby Jack Cheese
Cinnamon
Pirate's Booty

Instructions:
1.  Get a tortilla.
2.  Put the shredded colby jack cheese on the tortilla.
3.  Sprinkle a little cinnamon on top.  If you like it that way, put some more on it.
4.   Cook in the microwave for 30 seconds or until cheese is melted.
5.  Stick the Pirate's Booty on top of the cheese and cinnamon.
6.  Eat!

Serving Suggestions:  Eat with raisins and roll up tortilla for eating.  Suggest a smaller tortilla for kids, or half of a large one.
