Pre-K Rocks

No one really knew how the school transition would turn out for Elizabeth.  If Mom had to guess, it would have been full of tears and clinging to the teachers.  While she does love her teachers, she has blossomed into a social butterfly!  She loves her new school!  It probably helps that Brother goes there and that her teachers are wonderful, but much credit must be given to Ms. E.  She has embraced this transition!

She is still a creature of habit and has times when she prefers to play alone or have quiet time, but we have heard that she has a little group of girls that she hangs with.  We even found out that she loved to make a mess at the art table and visit during group time with them.  Oops!  We are working on those things, but secretly Mom and Dad are thrilled that she is breaking out of her shell.

We had no idea that Pre-K would be the start of the social scene!  All we hear about is who we played with or sat by at lunch and who is best friends on any given day.  While she is social, she also loves her classwork.  Apparently it is a reward to bring home homework in Pre-K.  She begs to do it as soon as she gets it.  She is writing pretty well and really picking up her letter sounds.  Art is probably her favorite and she makes a presentation of every piece that comes home in her backpack.

School comes home with her almost everyday as much of her pretend time is spent instructing her students or children in various activities.  Our favorite is to lead group time and ask questions.  She also has started making "checklists" that are just a series of boxes and check marks.  It is how her teachers take attendance, but Mom may also  be modeling list making at home.  :)
