Easter week was filled with activities. We started with the kids’ egg hunts at
school. Elizabeth’s was on
Wednesday. Her class came outside to a
playground full of eggs after their nap time.
All of the kids were excited to start hunting, except for one. The number of parents and all of the
excitement overwhelmed her and she cried and refused to hunt. Mom convinced her that she would stay with
her to hunt and eventually some eggs were found and fun was had. It was actually like déjà vu from the year
before. Maybe at four this will seem
more fun to her. After the hunt, the
kids got a giant plateful of fun treats to enjoy. We made sure everyone had the right amount of
eggs and took our loot home to open and enjoy more.
Ben’s hunt was on Thursday.
His class actually got to make it a field trip and the eggs were hidden
at a nearby park. The kids arrived in
the vans with baskets in hand and rules in mind. They were to find 10 eggs and then stop
hunting. They could help friends after
that, but their basket was taken and off limits when it was “full”. The kids actually did great with these
rules. They all counted out their set of
eggs, stopped hunting, but helped a few friends that weren’t moving quite as
fast as the rest of the rambunctious crew.
Afterward, the kids got to enjoy the playground and then picnic before
heading back to school. It was actually
cool and rainy on this day, but it didn’t rain hard enough to faze the kids and
it was a really great time.
School closed for Good Friday so we all took off for a day
of family fun. We took care of some
things around the house in the morning and then headed out for lunch and an
afternoon at the zoo. It was a beautiful
day and we enjoyed the entire zoo. The
kids were glad to show Dad the sea lions that he had missed on our last
visit. We made sure to get a good spot
well in advance of one of the shows and the kids enjoyed seeing the tricks and
learning more about each sea lion. We
also ran into some great friends also enjoying a family day at the zoo. We knew they were there in advance and had
made the mistake of letting Ben know that.
He hunted harder for his friend than he did for the animals after a
while. So we made sure to meet up so the
kids could see each other.
On Saturday we visited Papa and got to see lots of family
while we were there as well. It was a
great visit and the kids enjoyed telling about their zoo and egg hunt
adventures. That afternoon was the great
Coweta Eggstravaganza. The kids were so
excited to share this time with more family and friends. The weather was a little wet still, but the
kids had a long window of egg hunting before the rains came and enjoyed snacks
and cookie decorating inside and bubbles on the porch when it was too wet. It is an event we look forward to each
year!
Ben's look shows his sadness that there are no more eggs to be found. . . :)
On Sunday the Easter bunny came to visit our house and there
were eggs and baskets for the kids. We
had to wake up early to hunt as Ben had to be at church early for dress
rehearsal. Ben and his Sunday School class sang a couple songs during the service that morning and did a great job. Mom helped corral them during one of the
services and it was quite entertaining.
There were a lot of kids that were excited to be on stage! We enjoyed lots of family time that afternoon
and evening and got to enjoy a day of celebration.
Love the matching "smiles"!

What fun!
